Your online life is packed full of things to do all over the Web, and now, with the Web Activities feed, you can help your favourite Windows Live contacts keep track of what you're doing across a huge range of networks and services.
As we all know, people don't live their whole online lives on one site or on one network and with so many options out there, why would you? But it's getting harder every day to share all the cool stuff you're doing with the people closest to you. Similarly, it's easy to feel like you have to check so many different places to see what your friends are up to that in the end, you wind up missing out.
With the new Windows Live, it's easy for you to choose to share more of what you're doing with your friends. This feature, called "Web Activities", lets you share the stuff you do on other websites with the people you add to your network on Windows Live.
What kinds of activities?
Facebook, Last FM, Flickr, Twitter, Digg and that's just to name a few. Web Activities offers a huge range of online services and networks to sync with Windows Live.
Here's a quick introduction to how you can use Web Activities to sync up your life online from the Windows Live team.
How it works
Updates about your web activities appear not only on your personal profile, but also in the "What's New" feed in other popular areas of Windows Live that your friends may already use every day like Messenger, Hotmail, and the Toolbar. You can choose which web activities to share, and for each activity, you decide whether to make it visible to everyone, just the people in your network, or only to the people you choose.
Ready to set up your Web Activities? Let's go through it step-by-step.
Start by logging into Windows Live and opening up your profile.
Near the bottom left of your Profile page, you'll find the Web Activities link. Click on here to start choosing the online services and social networks you'd like to sync up with Windows Live.
You can only arrange to sync one service at a time through Web Activities, once you've decided on your first, hit the 'Add' button below the service icon.
You'll have to enter the details for the service account you've chosen to add to your Web Activities so it can connect with Windows Live.
After that, you're done! Your updates to these services will now appear in your friends' "What's new" feeds.
